WELCOME TO ISSUE 10

This Spring/Summer Issue is dedicated to New Beginnings, having new experiences and relationships, learning new skills, dipping your toe into areas previously unexplored and purchases never made before.

Our award wining cover artist Sarah Perkins is known for her stunning digital reworkings creating layers using sourced imagery, painting and typography – her pieces can be seen in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Here on the cover, she sums up the start of the season with her interpretation of Flowers which historian Lucy Moore delves into the meanings of. Did you know that a gardenia indicates a secret admirer, a zinnia lasting affection and a pink camellia longing… find out more on p16.

We stroll around Mayfair learning about Clubs that must be joined with Al Farquhar, “…A refusal could see one condemned as ‘unclubbable’ a vituperative insult marking suspect breeding…” (p18).

And strut down Savile Row with Mark Fox, to understand the importance of fine tailoring and why it is the must-have once new chapters present themselves. “…Purchasing and wearing a hand cut, made-to-measure suit in the finest materials improves posture and personal well-being and for most, marks the beginning of a new, and better, life…” (p10). Ideal attire for wearing on your date, find out from Sophie Hedley how to best present yourself (p21).

Along with our usual suspects Shopping, Local Knowledge, Food and Culture we are launching our Mayfarer Cover Competition in Partnership with Jack Barclay Bentley (p12). Be sure to enter and spread the word to those creatives looking for new beginnings. All disciplines and age entries are accepted.

As we enter our third year, our focus remains on artists and writers, creativity and this community, we are incredibly passionate about print and our beautifully curated and fully commissioned publications.
