WELCOME TO ISSUE 6
This winter we’re celebrating all things Time & Travel. From Winston Churchill holding secret cabinet meetings in the disused Down Street tube station to the American Eagle flying high in Grosvenor Square, allegedly constructed out of sheet metal salvaged from the B52 bombers of World War II. We love delving into our neighbourhood’s curious and quirky history.
You might have noticed three cover images below my photo. The first is for The Mayfarer, the second for our sister magazine The Covent Gardener, and the third I would like to introduce you to is the new addition to the Piero Publishing stable – The City Courant, celebrating the City of London.
Why a third you might ask? Well, two people are to blame: John Foley, Common Councillor for the Ward of Farringdon Within (also a resident in the City), for planting the seed and telling me the most fabulous stories about the City which had my head spinning; and artist Stephanie Hofmann, for creating these utterly gorgeous covers. There was no turning back after seeing them.
Look closer at the characters and you will see a story woven throughout each. The Mayfarer cover has our characters travelling back home after a fabulous evening at the Royal Opera House, The Covent Gardener crowd have been partying all night long in Mayfair, and the City crew… Well, you’ll have to read Issue 1 of The City Courant to find out their story…
Each of the three magazines has its own unique identity and content in every single story, no matter how big or small, and all the illustrations are commissioned by us.
We are incredibly passionate about print and our beautifully curated independent publications.
